George Clark Christmas Competition

Set up by past member, the much-missed George Clark, and reflecting his sense of humour, The Christmas Plate was meant to be a 'fun' competition, to finish the modelling year.

Previous winners have been odd and quirky. Some were in different materials, or even unfinished!

Changes for 2025

To add a bit more fun to the competition, and hopefully increase the number of entrants, it wqs decided at the AGM to add a 'Secret Santa'. So some guidelines were drawn up as follows:

  1. Anyone who wants to take part in this year's Christmas competition, must bring a wrapped model to the January meeting.
Or get it to the BS beforehand (see also 10.)
  2. Models will be put into a large container.Or, if the pile of models is vast, each will be given a number, to be drawn separately
  3. Entrants' names will be put into a hat
  4. Name drawn will select a model from large container - contents will not be visible!  Or, bag of numbers
  5. That person has to build that model, ready for Christmas meeting, at the end of the year
  6. Only those who have entered a model into the draw will be eligible for Christmas Plate
  7. Secret Santa isn't compulsory
  8. No started or incomplete models, vacforms, or resin models please (or plasticard & plans for a scratch-build, Hugh!)
  9. if you draw the model you put in, you will have to make it!
  10. Latecomers to the draw, who intend taking part, must let the BS know beforehand. Bring wrapped model and pick up drawn model to be made as above.
