All types of models and modellers
We are a bunch of like minded people who get a bit of a buzz out of making plastic models. Some build models straight from the box - or plastic bag, while others like to scratch build and put in lots of details. To give you some idea of the range of models, have a look at our members' biographies and our galleries. We all enjoy the hobby and everyone is happy to talk about their models, or ask for help, swap techniques, or offer encouragement. The Earley Risers Model Club is a branch of the IPMS(UK) as such most, although not all, of our members have IPMS membership.
A fun time Modelling, during the day
The club meets in Lower Earley, on the Southeast side of Reading, usually on the third Sunday of each month.
Please check the events page for Dates and Times.
Some members turn up for a full session's modelling, while others come along anytime during the day, just for a chat.
If you would like to join us, or find out more about The Earley Risers
Please contact Steve Abbey, or come and see us at any of the model shows we'll be attending during the year.

'Secret Santa'
|
18 Risers took part in this year's Secret Santa.
They all brought in models, wrapped in festive paper. Then, after a draw, they each selected a parcel and opened it to reveal the kit they were going to build for our December 25 club meeting.
Some were overjoyed, and some were not! Who picked what model?

Life Membership for Les
Club Member Les Beaumont was granted a Life Membership of The Earley Risers at our AGM, held in December. Mark and Steve visited him at home to present his certificate.
You will recall, Les suffered a stroke on 1st April 2020, which affected his left side. Unablle to walk, this rendered him housebound, spending his days in bed, or proppped up in a specially designed chair.
In spite of this, Les has kept his sense of humour. He looks forward to visits and phone calls from friends and club members
Les was suitably impressed
with his award!

++++++ Good Bye 2024 - Hello to 2025! ++++++
George Clark Christmas Competition
Earley Risers wrapped up 2024 with our “fun” Christmas competition. Following a pause of a few years the George Clark Christmas Competition is back.
Originally kicked off by the much-missed George Clark and reflecting his sense of humour the Christmas competition is a fun event for weird and quirky models, works in progress and anything else you can think of.

All club members present voted for their favourite model. In a tight competition it was neck and neck between Phil May’s Warlock Necromancer and Ian Tress’s, T Mobile.
With the very last vote Ian’s model took the win. Well done Ian!
Thanks to everyone who entered models and voted.
