Despite being held on a cold, wet and wintery day in February, the first ever TankExpo 2017 certainly proved to be
a large and successful addition to the modelling calendar. Over 1.400 visitors braved the sleet and snowy conditions
to visit the show, held at The Tank Museum, at Bovington in Dorset.
The Earley Risers were out in force
No less than 10 members, (Liz & Steve, Jeff and Geoff, Mark, Big Mick, Tim and Tom, Sean and Rolly) supported the club by bringing a variety of models to display on our stand, which was situated in the Tank Story Hall, under the raised nose of a Chieftain MBT.
Judging by the number of people who came to chat, (and peruse the large piles of stash sales!) our display generated
more than a little interest.
For the first time, The ERs invited a guest modeller to display on our stand.
Jayden aged 8, from Freeland near Oxford, displayed his diorama in a box.
It featured a Me 109 and Spitfire dogfighting over a Tiger II and Sherman.
He produced his own base and deployed numerous figures all fighting for the same real estate.
