Geoff Ridgway

I have been making models on and off since I was 5 or 6 years old. The first ones were the Airfix Yak 9D aeroplane and Churchill tank – I can still remember all those little wheels! After running through as much of the Airfix and Matchbox catalogues as interested me, in my teens I started on Tamiya 1/35 scale kits.

Apart from a few forays over the years making the odd figure, ship and aircraft model I have pretty much settled on 1/35 scale and concentrate now on tanks, trucks and plant from WW1, WW2 and modern eras.

After a lull in my model making because of work, I started again in 2010, visiting a local model show leading to my joining IPMS which then led to going to more shows. Visiting the shows I was eventually brave enough to speak to Earley Risers – it has been quite refreshing to meet a group of people as interested as I am in “a box full of plastic” (as it is described at home) and hopefully this is going to encourage me to persevere and complete models this time around.
