A record turnout for The Earley Risers!

The ERs had a massive turnout at this year's Abingdon model show. We managed to field 11 members throughout the day. Our hosts supplied us with more tables than we were expecting, so it was just as well we had lots of modellers bringing a few spare models!

Thanks to Liz & Steve, Jeff, Phil, Sean, Hugh, Simon, Roland, Peter and Ben for bringing their masterpieces! Tim P made up the 11!

Fun on the competition tables!

We had a few winners on a day when admittedly there were far fewer entries than in previous years - with some of the major classes having few entries, or even none at all.

Sean managed a clean sweep of medals in the 1/35 military vehicles, with Phil only managing a Highly Commended for his scratch built armoured car.

It was noted there were some seemingly strange results in some of the classes. For instance Hugh's Chilton DW1 only gained a Bronze medal - even though it was the only entry in the 1/48 civil aircraft class.

There were no entries in the normally popular 1/72 aircraft classes either.

The larger than 1/35 military vehicles class had but 2 entries - both Steve's.

One of them, The "follow Me" jeep managed a Highly Commended.

In the Miscellaneous class, again with 2 entries, Steve's Diesel came second, with a Bronze.

In the Civilian Vehicle class, Steve gained a Gold medal for his Deutz Green tractor, just beating Liz with her Mobile Kitchen van into Silver place.

Phil did well in the Figures. His Soviet Marine won a Gold medal, with his German mercenary  gaining a Highly commended.

Steve's Fantasy Trooper managed a Highly commended in the Sci-Fi/Fantasy class

Last, but not least, Steve's Mig-21 gained a Silver medal in the larger than 1/48 military aircraft class
