Romsey Modellers Show

Another weekend where Earley Risers were represented at two shows.

While Steve, Liz and Jeff showed the flag at the Helicopter Museum (see report), the “B” team of Phil and Geoff put on a display at the resurrected Romsey Modellers event at Crosfield Hall in Romsey town. This is an excellent venue with good parking and easy access, and it has aircon – an absolute pleasure on what turned out to be a really warm day.

Plenty of clubs in attendance and most traders seemed busy.

Phil arrived early and got the table space covered, with Geoff not long behind. Tim attended with Models for Heroes group.

A nice mix of models was put out and we enjoyed a busy and sociable day, with a goodly public footfall despite the Mediterranean weather.

A limited class open competition was held (Romsey’s first), in which Phil won Class 6 with his Scots Guards bust, and received a silver award in class 4 for his Nashikidze-Charron Scout Car.

Best club display went to Tangmere Sector Modellers (some awesome models on their display), and best of show was deservedly won with an outstanding waterline model of the carrier USS Nimitz.

Verdict – a very enjoyable day.
A big shout out to Tony, Alan and the Romsey crew for making it so.
