Another Silver Award for "Saved from The Shelf of Doom

Scale ModelWorld 2025 show report by Sean

It’s November again and the Earley Risers headed up to Telford for Scale Model World 2025

Friday Set Up

Liz, Steve, Mick, Geoff and Sean were all up there bright and early on Friday to help with show set-up. Peter, along with Dave (& his missus!) came along to help pack the Airfix welcome bags. They were joined later on in the afternoon by Ian, Ewan and Nigel to set up the stand.

We had our usual eclectic mix of models including figures, vehicles, cars, bikes and aircraft from military, civilian, sci-fi and fantasy and all built to a very high standard. The stand gained a lot of interest throughout the weekend, and every modeller could relate to the Shelf of Doom theme, everyone has some! The feedback from the public was great with may sharing stories of their own shelfs, sheds or lofts of Doom.

There was the usual vast array of traders, clubs and SIGs and many bargains were had. Saturday was very busy with Sunday was a little quieter .

Remembrance Sunday was observed and it’s always very moving as the normally noisy bustling halls go completely quiet as the parade with many veterans lead the two minute silence.

The final icing on the cake was Earley Risers winning 2nd place in the Jessie Wright Trophy for Best UK Branch Display! Well done to all involved for all the hard work.

At the end of the weekend, after everyone had gone home, Mick & Geoff, with Liz & Steve stayed behind working as Banksmen to clear the trader's vans
