Earley Risers at BDAC 26 Model Show

Sunday started somewhat chilly for the Earliest Risers, and remarkably there were some light showers en route and a cloud burst in Salisbury reported.

Dave R, Jeff, Nige, and Phil set up the stand and were joined by Tim P along with Peter and Tim L. That gave us a well stocked stand with plenty of variety in subjects and scales, which showcased the Club’s broad church. As BDAC members,  Steve helped the hosts by running the competition, aided by Phil.

Bacon sandwiches and caffeine were the next priority bought from the Boscombe Ladies, (who were sweltering in the canteen as the heating was on), and then on to Competition entries.

Overall public footfall felt quite low, but was made up for with lots of club chit chat. There was a confirmation from Romesy club that the booking issue last week was their admin error. So we are all still friends there. Maybe we can make 2027?

There was an empty stand opposite to us, which Tim L took advantage of and got building.

The competition was highly competitive and the judges had a difficult task to pick the winners. In fact there were tiebreaks in a lot of classes, including Best in Show & Best Display!

In the end, we won 4 out of 10 classes, Phil Aced two figure classes, one for his ferry pilot and one for his Fantasy subject, Dave (Have I won Something) got a hotly contested Gold for his fabulous Funny Car, while Nige picked up Gold for his DAK 88mm. …and came second after a tiebreak decision, for Best in Show!
